About the position

The Senior Developer Advocate at Datadog is a technical leader and mentor responsible for driving projects from inception to completion. This role focuses on enhancing collaboration within teams and engaging with the cloud native community, particularly in the context of Cloud (AWS). The position combines engineering expertise with creative storytelling to influence the landscape of cloud observability and monitoring, while also promoting a strong office culture through a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Speak at conferences, meetups, webinars, and partner events to educate developers in cloud.
  • Create content in various formats to build Datadog's reputation in DevOps, Monitoring, Observability, and Security.
  • Work closely with Datadog's Cloud Alliances team and industry partners as a trusted advisor for technical content.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to build compelling demos and coach internal teams on effective communication.
  • Contribute to the product through feedback, documentation, or code.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for events and community-focused work that establishes trust with developers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience as a software developer, SRE, or other practitioner, including building and maintaining production systems with AWS services.
  • 3+ years of experience in storytelling and creating compelling content such as written content, conference talks, leading workshops, and contributing to open source.
  • Ability to communicate with technical users of all skill levels, from junior developers to CTOs.
  • Enjoy self-driven exploration and education on new technologies and languages.
