About the position

The position is a technical lead role within United Airlines' Digital Technology team, responsible for creating and maintaining strategic partnerships between business needs and technology delivery. The individual will mentor a team of developers, oversee software development during the SDLC, and ensure that projects align with approved designs. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills to maximize the benefits of IT and business investments.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for software development during the design/build phases of the SDLC.
• Act as technical lead on development projects.
• Demonstrate knowledge of development methodologies, software design, and design patterns.
• Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements.
• Ensure in-progress builds follow approved designs.
• Perform coding and unit testing for in-progress changes and participate in peer reviews using Java.
• Collaborate with onshore teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging software systems or applications.
• Extensive experience with IBM Operational Decision Manager and developing decision models, rule sets, and decision tables.
• Familiarity with event-driven processing and complex event handling.
• Experience with system integration and API usage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with DevOps and setting up CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong object-oriented design skills and ability to analyze requirements for scalable software designs.

• Airlines industry experience.
• Experience with TeamCity and/or Harness.
• Performance tuning experience.
