About the position

The position involves providing technical and engineering support for the R&D department, focusing on configuration management and software integration for medical devices. The role is responsible for managing software repositories, build procedures, and ensuring the delivery of software configurations according to project schedules. Additionally, it includes maintaining and expanding the DevOps infrastructure, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), and supporting the development of embedded software.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for configuration of software for medical device host applications and engineering tools, per SOPs.
  • Prepare configuration management documentation.
  • Manage storage and retrieval of off-the-shelf and SOUP software to ensure reproducibility.
  • Oversee the build process of complex C/C++ and C# software across various platforms.
  • Perform configuration management in compliance with SOPs.
  • Build and control the release of software to the field according to department standards.
  • Manage account access necessary for software development for engineers, contractors, and vendor partners (Jira, Bitbucket).
  • Maintain Agile practices with sprints within Jira.
  • Participate in design and development of embedded software and supporting production tools for medical devices.
  • Automate software builds using JENKINS or equivalent tools.
  • Conduct testing and debugging of system software using Visual Studio.
  • Implement architecture and configuration for the DevOps server.
  • Manage active directory accounts and groups for DevOps security and operations.
  • Coordinate with Merz Service & Repair to establish a client distribution portal for software upgrades.
  • Track and maintain software team assets.
  • Provision key access for medical devices using existing tools.
  • Conduct design reviews and process documentation for software releases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps and software development, particularly for medical devices.
  • Experience managing source repositories and user support for toolsets like Atlassian.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux (Red Hat), Windows 10 OS, and BIOS configuration.
  • Advanced knowledge of network topologies, server configurations, and Amazon AWS.
  • Proficient in C/C++, C#, PowerShell scripting, and SQL Database.
  • Experience with Agile Software Development Methodology and Configuration Management Tools.
  • Proficient with JENKINS for build and release management.
  • Knowledge of medical device standards like IEC62304 and IEC60601.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with B-Mode Ultrasound is a plus.
  • Desire to participate in documentation activities related to clinical operations and regulatory guidance.
  • Experience integrating real-time systems with Windows Host applications.
