About the position

The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the evolution and maintenance of Azure environments and services, focusing on creating and supporting development and infrastructure pipelines. This role aims to minimize human interaction with production systems, enabling reproducibility across builds and facilitating on-demand service deployment for development teams. The engineer will establish technical standards, create tools for automated workflows, and build cloud ecosystems that promote innovation and enablement.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation by delivering Azure-based projects, including migrations, CICD pipelines, and managing containers.
  • Work with development and DevOps teams to build technical solutions that leverage established Azure patterns and architecture strategies.
  • Establish cost containment practices to balance developer productivity with consumption-based cost challenges.
  • Evolve Azure solutions to a self-service deployment model.
  • Rationalize technology and tool recommendations for Azure.
  • Integrate solutions into the larger technical ecosystem to maximize impact and value.
  • Identify gaps in Azure development and administrative services and propose solutions.
  • Research and drive the adoption of cloud-based design patterns and standards aligned with Azure best practices.
  • Publish documentation of Azure standards and drive adoption across business and technical areas.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures for Azure infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain Azure environments in accordance with corporate, security, and compliance standards.
  • Develop and implement Azure service health and operational metrics.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Terraform, Azure, Kubernetes, and Cloud technologies.
  • Strong background in DevOps and Automation practices.
  • Experience with Istio, AKS, GitOps, ArgoCD, and Argo Workflows.
  • Familiarity with data science and data platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ownership and consultative mindset with the ability to drive vision and generate new ideas.
  • Experience with data science workloads and improving monitoring and automation.
  • Development experience, particularly with microservices and RESTful APIs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a smaller team environment.
