About the position

The Senior Digital Electrical Engineer at ARA will focus on developing electronic hardware control systems for antenna positioner products used in RADAR, SATCOM, and EW systems. This role involves designing and implementing control systems, creating test benches for design verification, and providing post-design support. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electronic and electro-mechanical hardware, particularly in control systems design and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electronic hardware control systems for antenna positioner products.
  • Create top-level test benches for simulating and verifying design architecture.
  • Write digital design drawings, specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Provide post-design support and troubleshooting using various test equipment.
  • Design and implement algorithms for control systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in electronic and electro-mechanical hardware design.
  • Proficient in C/C++ programming and communications protocols such as BLE, I2C, UART, and CAN bus.
  • Experience in designing, testing, and optimizing electronics and software/firmware for control systems.
  • Experience with designing 2 and 3 Axis controls for robots or antenna positioners.
  • Proficient in schematic generation for board, chassis, and system-level hardware.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with digital hardware and software/firmware for MCUs (ARM) and SoC devices in embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of SPI protocols and interfacing with IMU or accelerometer MEMS sensors.
  • Familiarity with ModelSim or equivalent simulation tools for design verification testing.
  • Experience with Printed Circuit Board Assembly design and layout.
  • Experience with high-speed ADC/DACs and various sensors (RTD, current shunts, etc.).
  • Experience with servo-controllers, brushless motors, and three-phase wiring.
