About the position

The Senior Digital Media Planner/Buyer role at True Media is designed for individuals with a solid background in digital media planning and buying who are looking to advance their careers. This position is pivotal in the tactical planning, purchasing, execution, and delivery of digital channels and tactics that align with approved media plans. The successful candidate will lead the development of tactical media strategies and budgets tailored to client needs. A strong understanding of the digital media landscape, including social media, programmatic display, video, and publisher direct media, is essential. The role requires staying current with the rapidly evolving media environment and applying media measurements creatively to meet and exceed client goals. As a primary contact for key media vendors, the Senior Digital Media Planner/Buyer will proactively seek innovative solutions to enhance tactical plans and buying strategies. This includes coordinating meetings, introductions, and webinars within the activation team. The role also involves establishing and adhering to processes and workflows while suggesting improvements to increase efficiency. The planner/buyer will participate in discussions regarding digital media planning and buying for assigned clients, developing and executing tactical media plans across relevant channels. Collaboration with the Activation Strategy Supervisor and AMD is crucial to integrate solutions into media plans effectively. In addition to media strategy and execution, the role encompasses understanding measurement strategies developed by the Client Strategy team and demonstrating their application in tactical media evaluation and campaign setup. The planner/buyer will conduct research to identify effective media tactics, negotiate competitive rates with vendors, and maintain strong vendor relationships. As an expert in True Media tools and processes, the individual will also train and mentor team members, contributing to the overall growth and success of the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in digital media planning and buying discussions for assigned client portfolios and channels.
  • Develop and execute tactical media plans within relevant channels for each client.
  • Collaborate with Activation Strategy Supervisor/AMD to integrate solutions into media plans.
  • Issue RFI and RFP efforts with existing and new vendors.
  • Understand measurement strategies and demonstrate their application in tactical media evaluation and campaign setup.
  • Research and compile data to identify effective media tactics, including measurability and targetability.
  • Negotiate competitive media rates and secure added value for clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships and seek innovative opportunities.
  • Serve as an expert on True Media tools and processes, training and mentoring others.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting with appropriate departments and teams.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of professional experience in media planning and/or buying, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of media fundamentals, including media math, reach/frequency, consumer/market research, and analytics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team leads regarding tactical strategies and campaign delivery requirements.
  • Proficient in analyzing campaign metrics and providing constructive recommendations to internal teams and clients.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills to secure competitive media rates for clients and the agency.
  • Must successfully pass Google Analytics Individual Qualification and Google Ads certifications within six months of employment.
