About the position

Ciena is seeking a dedicated Digital Verification Engineer to join our team, focusing on the Wavelogic family of products used in optical fiber transmission solutions. This role involves collaborating with digital design engineers and architects to propose and implement innovative verification strategies, ensuring thorough simulation and validation of functional blocks and subsystems. The position emphasizes a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous learning, contributing to Ciena's success in the telecommunications industry.

Responsibilities

  • Propose and implement innovative verification strategies for the Wavelogic family of products.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers and architects to understand architecture and functional requirements.
  • Create and manage verification, functional coverage, and formal verification test plans.
  • Develop the test bench environment and components using System Verilog UVM and/or C.
  • Perform coverage-driven verification and monitor regressions, debugging failures as needed.
  • Regularly report on status updates regarding verification progress.

Requirements

  • BEng/BSc, MEng/MSc or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in System Verilog, UVM, SVA, and simulators from major vendors at an intermediate level or above.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex technical issues methodically.
  • Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills in English.
  • Validated ability to develop comprehensive digital verification and coverage strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with formal verification methods.
  • Familiarity with standards and protocols such as OTN/FlexO/B100G, Ethernet (100GE+).
  • Experience using GIT for source code management and revision tracking.
  • Experience using Jira for schedule planning, assignment tracking, and bug reporting.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Make, bash, object-oriented programming, C, C++, System C.
