About the position

The Senior Director of Architecture for Enterprise Data Product/Data Management at Travelers will lead the technology target state for the Enterprise Data and Analytics Unit. This role involves interfacing with senior technology leaders to transform business and technology capabilities, defining roadmaps, and identifying emerging technologies. The position requires strong leadership to inspire and mentor a team of architects, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and driving continuous technology transformation.

Responsibilities

• Organizational responsibility for a segment of Technology Architecture in support of the Enterprise Data and Analytic business unit
• Work with senior leadership to develop architecture priorities and direction
• Display thought leadership in modern architecture principles and technology modernization
• Drive continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt
• Create partnerships with Senior Software Engineering leadership
• Capitalize on technology advances through analysis of industry and technology trends
• Define and lead technology proof of concepts
• Define target state technology architecture and roadmaps
• Ensure alignment of IT initiatives with the target state
• Build strong partnerships with engineering to align skills with technology direction
• Prepare and deliver communications to convey architectural direction
• Optimize talent strategy to attract and recruit the best talent
• Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture

Requirements

• Bachelor's in technology related field or equivalent
• 7+ years of technology Architecture experience
• Mentorship experience with architecture team
• Organizational and transformational leadership experience in an agile operating model
• Expert level Software Engineering experience
• Experience in defining strategic technology direction and architecture vision
• Proven track record of influencing senior leadership
• Insurance technology experience
• Strong grasp of value creation and business capability models
• Passion for technology transformations
• Hands-on experience in the last 3 years
• Executed technology modernization initiatives including migration to cloud native and API Strategy
• Current experience with AWS, APIs, accelerators, DevSecOps
• Cloud Architecture Certification (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or strong architecture experience on Cloud
• Good understanding of security
• Experience with large scale technology platforms
• Experience modernizing data technology and information architecture on cloud
• Exposure to advanced analytics techniques using ML and AI
• Hands-on experience with data technologies on cloud
• Hands-on experience with Master Data Management solutions (Informatica)

• Experience in a Dow 30 company
