About the position

As the Senior Director of Brand Marketing for North America at Converse, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the brand's marketing strategy and execution across the region. This position is not just about leading marketing initiatives; it's about connecting with consumers on a deeper level, understanding their needs, and translating those insights into impactful marketing strategies. You will be responsible for overseeing the comprehensive business activities for North America, which includes Canada, ensuring that all marketing efforts are aligned with the overall brand strategy and business objectives. In this role, you will report directly to the VP/GM of North America and be a key member of the North America Leadership Team. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing marketing plans that drive revenue and enhance brand positioning. You will analyze performance metrics and budgets, ensuring that marketing initiatives are effectively executed across various channels, including Wholesale, Direct, and Digital. Collaboration will be essential, as you will work closely with the Global Brand Marketing team to ensure that regional strategies are integrated with global initiatives. Your leadership will extend to managing a team of brand marketing professionals, inspiring them to achieve excellence in their roles. You will advocate for North American perspectives in global planning sessions and ensure that consumer insights are at the forefront of all marketing activities. By leveraging digital tools and conducting regular research, you will gather valuable consumer insights that inform seasonal strategies and help Converse become the preferred brand for the youth market in North America. This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex business scenarios and make informed decisions that benefit the brand. You will need to possess excellent communication skills to facilitate meetings and present ideas clearly to various stakeholders. Your ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally, will be crucial in driving successful marketing initiatives and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Brand Marketing function for North America, ensuring alignment with global strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive marketing activities for the North American geography, including Canada.
  • Execute and analyze marketing plans, budgets, and performance targets across various channels.
  • Coordinate marketing strategies tailored to distribution channels, aligned by consumer and product segments.
  • Drive the global concept map and allocate budgets by function and category, prioritizing significant brand opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing leads on planning and execution of regional marketing initiatives.
  • Provide strong management and communication to cross-functional business leaders and brand functional teams.
  • Track execution of marketing initiatives and leverage insights for future actions.
  • Conduct regular research activities to gather consumer insights and inform seasonal strategies.
  • Monitor brand health metrics to achieve the goal of becoming the #1 preferred brand for youth in North America.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Marketing experience, including 5+ years in a managerial position, in a global environment.
  • Fluent use of business analysis and research tools.
  • History of success leading highly functioning brand marketing teams.
  • Knowledge of project development processes, particularly with Keynote, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Understanding of the competitive youth culture marketplace and ability to navigate diverse perspectives from customers and functional leaders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
  • Proven ability to persuade and influence stakeholders to take desired actions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain fair and honest relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm towards consumers and the business.
