About the position

The Senior Director, Card Finance serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Mainstreet Card business at Capital One. This role is pivotal in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making within the organization, focusing on providing access to credit and promoting responsible credit usage. The individual will lead a team of financial analysts and collaborate closely with senior leadership across various finance disciplines to shape the financial planning and analysis culture and influence corporate strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Mainstreet Card finance team, managing a total of 11 financial analysts.
  • Actively shape and contribute to the FP&A and Finance culture within the organization.
  • Recruit and develop high-performing talent within the finance team.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner and advisor to senior business leaders.
  • Generate ongoing analytical insights into business performance and the P&L.
  • Develop and deliver insightful presentations to senior management.
  • Support and influence senior business leaders, including members of the Executive Committee.
  • Balance analytics and judgment to influence corporate decision-making.
  • Challenge the status quo and create sustainable financial processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
  • At least 12 years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
  • At least 6 years of experience managing an FP&A function.
  • At least 5 years of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in or partnering with the Card business.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Finance.
  • 14+ years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
  • 10+ years of experience managing an FP&A function.
  • 10+ years of people management experience including both direct & indirect reports.
  • Ability to build and manage robust financial models within modern infrastructure.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
