About the position

As a Senior Director, Chief of Staff at Capital One, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating the company's vision by consolidating key strategy work under one leader focused on unlocking organizational excellence. This position requires you to apply your strategic and analytical skills to address major company challenges, serving as a trusted advisor to the leadership team and helping to set the vision for a growing organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to deeply understand the organization and its segments, becoming a key member of the senior leadership team and a strategic partner to senior leaders. Your general responsibilities will include vision setting, where you will develop business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One. You will design and implement processes and frameworks to enable strategic planning, taking ownership of goals, successes, failures, and mitigation plans. You will also proactively identify high-profile projects that add value and lead them to ensure successful delivery. Collaboration with colleagues across various departments such as Tech, Brand, Operations, and Finance will be essential to drive improvements in quality, volume, service, and profitability. Additionally, you will support building a world-class team by attracting, interviewing, and onboarding future team members, while coaching and mentoring associates to develop and retain talent at Capital One.

Responsibilities

  • Set a vision and develop business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One.
  • Design and implement processes and frameworks to enable strategic planning.
  • Take ownership of goals, successes, failures, and mitigation plans.
  • Manage processes around defining and communicating the strategic vision, three-year goals, and annual planning.
  • Run quarterly planning and post-mortems when needed.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to add value and lead high-profile projects.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Capital One to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability.
  • Support building a world-class team by attracting, interviewing, and onboarding future team members.
  • Coach and mentor associates to develop and retain talent at Capital One.
  • Make decisions based on analytics and maintain strong business judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in strategy development
  • At least 5 years of experience managing senior stakeholders across business functions
  • At least 5 years of people management experience

  • 7+ years of experience working with technology leaders
