About the position

The Senior Director Cloud Engineering at Lumen is a pivotal role responsible for defining the end-to-end system engineering and software architecture for Segment Engineering ServiceNow and related systems. This position is crucial in providing comprehensive system engineering and software details for current initiatives and the digital transformation program. The primary clients of this team are all software development teams, making this role integral to the success of various projects within the organization. In this role, the Senior Director will provide technical leadership, guidance, and support in the development and deployment of complex applications across global distributed computing environments. The individual will partner with senior management to ensure that the architecture demonstrates interoperability, scalability, and portability of applications and their subcomponents. A light-weight architectural governance model will be executed to maintain architecturally impactful decisions throughout project implementation. The Senior Director will also be accountable for managing future state roadmaps that encompass detailed software architecture, ensuring the overall solution-level integrity of applications. Collaboration with architects to identify strategic opportunities and rationalize cross-segment dependencies for software applications is essential. The role requires applying professional expertise to review vendor proposals for technology services and solutions, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and investment strategies. Additionally, the Senior Director will plan, develop, and work with Engineering and the Portfolios to administer complex proof-of-concept and special projects related to strategic initiatives or technology advancements. Continuous professional development is encouraged to remain current with market trends and practices, ensuring alignment with established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end system engineering and software architecture for Segment Engineering ServiceNow and related systems.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support in the development and deployment of complex applications in global distributed computing environments.
  • Partner with senior management to ensure architecture demonstrates interoperability, scalability, and portability of applications and their subcomponents.
  • Execute a light-weight architectural governance model during project implementation.
  • Create and maintain artifacts describing business goals & KPIs, balanced scorecards.
  • Manage future state roadmaps encompassing detailed software architecture.
  • Ensure overall solution-level integrity of applications.
  • Collaborate with architects to identify strategic opportunities and rationalize cross-segment dependencies for software applications.
  • Review vendor proposals for technology services and solutions to ensure adherence to architectural guidelines and investment strategy.
  • Plan, develop, and work with Engineering and the Portfolios to administer complex proof-of-concept and special projects related to strategic initiatives or technology advancements.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or equivalent education and experience.
  • 7-10 years related experience in cloud and network development.
  • 3+ years acting in a lead role.
  • Extensive experience with ServiceNow platform development and architecture.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing development teams.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow internals, including data model, scripting, and API integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to build complex systems, integrations, and customizations.
  • Strong focus on system performance tuning and optimization.
  • Expertise in implementing and maintaining robust security measures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and/or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
