About the position

As a Senior Director in the Consumer Retail sector at Simon-Kucher, you will play a pivotal role in driving value-based outcomes for our clients. Your primary focus will be on cultivating trusted relationships with clients, identifying their pain points, and developing tailored solutions to complex strategic challenges. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of the Consumer sector, particularly in Retail, to deliver actionable insights and recommendations that enhance our clients' commercial strategies. In this role, you will be responsible for leading project proposals and actively participating in pre-sales meetings to address client needs and expand Simon-Kucher's footprint in the market. You will manage client engagements, ensuring a balance between customer success, project profitability, and employee satisfaction. Your leadership will guide a talented team of junior consultants, fostering their development while delivering innovative solutions using data, analytics, and research. You will also be expected to stay abreast of industry trends, analyze existing processes, and recommend improvements. Your ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently, while providing coaching and feedback to team members, will be crucial. As a hands-on leader, you will not only oversee projects but also actively contribute to the development of new capabilities and thought leadership within the Consumer sector. Responsibilities

  • Cultivate trusted-partner client relationships and source project opportunities.
  • Develop project proposals leading to revenue generation.
  • Deliver solutions through depth of content knowledge and client relationship-building skills.
  • Identify client pain points and develop custom solutions to complex strategy engagements.
  • Participate in proposal development and pre-sales meetings with potential new clients.
  • Manage delivery balancing customer success, project profitability, and employee satisfaction.
  • Lead and guide a team of junior consultants to develop innovative insights and recommendations.
  • Effectively manage multiple engagements and project teams concurrently.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of Simon-Kucher's Consumer sector, specializing in Retail practice.
  • Develop and deliver new thought leadership in collaboration with peers and seniors.

Requirements

  • Outstanding drive, determination, and desire to be part of a growing consulting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of and passion for the Consumer sector, specifically the Retail industry.
  • An undergraduate degree is required; MS, MA, MBA, or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in a professional services environment, ideally in management consulting.
  • Proven business consulting expertise in growth strategies, go-to-market strategy, and pricing.
  • Access to an existing network within the Consumer industry in North America, preferably with senior executives.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and develop custom solutions at the executive level.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, scale, and manage delivery for client engagements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to distill insights from large data sets.
  • Effective presentation and communication abilities to present findings to a senior audience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in omni-channel management and digitization strategies.
  • Familiarity with behavioral economics in pricing strategies.
  • Previous experience in leading a Consumer sector, Retail practice.
