About the position

This senior role in the Global Data Office at Equifax is pivotal in managing the implementation of data governance and controls with a strong focus on data privacy, sharing, use, and retention. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and enhancing data compliance and oversight capabilities, emphasizing automation, continuous improvement, and innovative technology solutions to safeguard sensitive data. The position requires a deep understanding of data management, privacy, and information protection needs, which will be communicated through the design and documentation of governance frameworks and controls. The role involves defining and designing an enterprise-wide data management framework, along with the necessary policies, standards, and procedures to ensure that Equifax's data is collected, stored, maintained, used, retained, and disposed of in compliance with regulatory requirements. The candidate will architect and implement business capabilities that facilitate efficient management and oversight of compliance with data policies and standards, focusing on automation and strong controls. Collaboration with global teams is essential to continuously improve business capabilities and share best practices. Additionally, the role includes managing the daily and periodic surveillance of sensitive data movement within Equifax platforms, working closely with compliance, privacy, information security, data, IT, product, and analytics teams globally. The candidate will also establish plans and routines to support the execution of the enterprise data strategy and will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing enterprise training on data risk, governance, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and communicate data management, privacy, contractual needs, and information protection and security needs of the organization.
  • Define and design the enterprise and platform-wide data management framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Architect, design, and drive implementation of business capabilities for efficient management and oversight of compliance with data policies and standards.
  • Connect with global teams to continuously improve business capabilities and share best practices.
  • Manage daily and periodic operations of surveillance on the movement of sensitive data within Equifax platforms.
  • Work with compliance, privacy, information security, data, IT, product, and analytics teams globally to guide implementation of policy and standard requirements.
  • Establish plans and routines, and manage data capabilities that support execution of the enterprise data strategy.
  • Design, develop, and execute enterprise training on data risk, governance, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required; Master's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 7-10 years of experience across risk management (operational/technology), data management, privacy, and information security for financial services data.
  • Strong experience managing data across its lifecycle in both on-premises and cloud architectures and technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with data and risk management process and control design and operation.
  • Experience documenting and communicating guidelines, policies, standards, and frameworks across levels and functions in a large enterprise.
  • Experience with data management tools (Informatica, Collibra) and data privacy/protection tools (Privacera, BigID, Varonis, ForcePoint) to control and support data privacy and security capabilities.
  • Experience with SQL and BI tools (Looker, Tableau, BigQuery).

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong knowledge of US data sharing and privacy laws and regulations (FCRA, GLBA, CCPA/CPRA) and data structures and controls.
  • Familiarity with global and regional data sharing and privacy laws and regulations.
  • CIPP/CIPM/CIPT/CISM/CISSP or similar certifications.
  • Experience with or technical aptitude for designing advanced privacy methods (e.g., synthetic data, differential privacy).
  • Experience leveraging design thinking and agile methodologies to drive collaborative execution.
  • Strong analytical orientation with the ability to identify and define problems, extract key information from data, and develop solutions.
