About The Position

The Senior Director of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) at Bicycle Therapeutics plays a pivotal role in the drug development process, reporting directly to the Vice President of the Quantitative Pharmacology group. This position is integral to the success of multiple projects, guiding a small team of DMPK scientists from the initial stages of target identification through to candidate selection and regulatory submission. The Senior Director will provide scientific leadership in DMPK across all stages of the portfolio, ensuring that the quality and performance of DMPK activities meet the highest standards. This includes overseeing interactions with external Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and internal project stakeholders, ensuring that all DMPK activities are aligned with the company's strategic goals. In this role, the Senior Director will work collaboratively with medicinal chemists, biologists, pharmacologists, and toxicologists to support compound progression by optimizing DMPK properties. A key responsibility will be to integrate data from various sources to enhance the understanding of bicyclic peptide distribution, metabolism, and excretion. The Senior Director will also design experiments in collaboration with in-vivo pharmacology to elucidate preclinical pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (pk/pd) relationships. Additionally, the role involves authoring and reviewing DMPK-related Investigational New Drug (IND) documents in partnership with the discovery and regulatory teams. Managing DMPK budgets for CROs and monitoring their performance to ensure timely delivery of quality data is another critical aspect of this position. The Senior Director will also support the leadership of the Quantitative Pharmacology group and contribute to the development of junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the team.
