About the position

The Senior Director, Financial Services at Mayo Clinic plays a pivotal role in extending the reach of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) by acting as a delegate and gatekeeper, ensuring effective communication and prioritization of financial initiatives. This position is responsible for driving the execution of the Finance agenda, collaborating with various C-suite leaders, and leading the transformation journey within the Finance department. The role emphasizes building relationships, strategic planning, operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the face of Finance and drive the execution of its agenda as a delegate of the CFO.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Finance leadership and other C-suite leaders to enable effective collaboration.
  • Lead the execution of Finance's transformation journey, ensuring it is well planned, communicated, and executed.
  • Identify gaps in knowledge, skills, and abilities within the Finance team and address necessary culture changes.
  • Monitor leading edge practices in healthcare and identify suboptimal approaches in Mayo Clinic's finance structure.
  • Create and execute a workforce strategy that includes diverse sourcing and succession planning.
  • Develop strategies and operational best practices for the business operations function.
  • Drive excellence in financial management, communication, and strategic planning.
  • Partner with the CFO to plan and create meeting agendas and communications.
  • Support departmental projects, staff recruitment, and policy implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience with a focus on strategy and operations.
  • Broad-based knowledge of office support and computer systems, including spreadsheets and databases.
  • Strong leadership, business, analytical, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Solid organizational and project management skills with strategic judgment.
  • Experience managing and leading teams, with a track record of building positive relationships.
  • Ability to take business services from strategic consultation through tactical execution.
  • Experience developing and executing business plans and key performance indicators.
  • High degree of competency in data, analytics, and financial analysis.
