About The Position

The Senior Director for Campus Design at Dartmouth College is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the design of the campus's built and natural environments. This role focuses on developing and applying design standards for buildings, landscapes, and systems, ensuring consistency in design processes, and leading initiatives for new construction and renovations. The position requires collaboration across various departments to achieve the aesthetic vision for campus assets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a similar field.
• Licensure as an architect in New Hampshire or ability to obtain by reciprocity within one year.
• 10 years of experience in planning and design in a campus environment.
• Experience developing design standards and managing design processes.
• Experience and certifications in sustainability or high-performance buildings.
• Valid driver's license and ability to qualify as a Dartmouth Approved Driver.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field.
• 15 years of experience in planning and design in a campus environment, preferably managing both built and natural environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement design standards including architectural, materials, systems, sustainability, and landscape focus.
• Partner with project teams to evaluate and select design business partners such as architects and landscape architects.
• Evaluate, guide, and enhance design processes.
• Perform specific design reviews and provide project advising for project and client teams.
• Oversee studies and evaluations related to campus design.
• Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging within the Campus Services division.
