About the position

The Senior Director, Global Content Creation is responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing the delivery of global medical communication assets in alignment with therapeutic area teams. This role involves providing leadership to Global Content Creation Managers, ensuring impactful delivery and personal development. The director must understand medical data and effectively communicate it to healthcare professionals (HCPs) through various channels while collaborating with priority markets to maximize impact. The position requires staying updated on trends in content engagement and managing partnerships with external vendors to implement innovative communication strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and direct the development of materials supporting medical strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure high-quality medical engagement content for external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of medical strategies and plans for educational programs.
  • Drive enterprise initiatives for excellence and consistency in content planning and development.
  • Develop innovative tools for internal and external communication, including digital and social media delivery.
  • Maintain understanding of publication, scientific engagement, and medical education standards globally.
  • Establish and enforce global standards for scientific accuracy and compliance in content development.
  • Lead the content team in creating high-quality materials for medical communications.
  • Implement practices for diverse medical content types, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Foster collaboration among the content team, subject matter experts, and vendors for impactful content.
  • Maximize medical communication opportunities on internal and external channels.
  • Ensure timely execution of deliverables within medical communication plans.
  • Manage medical communications agency support for unified and high-quality deliverables.
  • Align with key stakeholders for optimized content plans in the annual medical business planning process.
  • Partner with medical education teams to implement innovative educational opportunities and execute programs.
  • Implement quality control measures across all content development activities.
  • Manage the content development budget for vendors across therapeutic areas.
  • Develop strategies for high-impact content distribution leveraging omni-channel platforms.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree: PhD, PharmD, MD.
  • 10+ years of medical affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Leadership experience managing direct reports, including hiring and career development.
  • Experience in strategic planning for new asset launches.
  • Experience engaging with senior key stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a complex matrix environment.
  • Experience resolving issues of internal stakeholders and negotiating strategies.
  • Understanding of Copy Approval requirements.
  • Experience developing medical education tools and materials for therapeutic areas.
  • Experience with publication and educational guidelines and practices.
  • Experience interpreting, analyzing, and organizing medical data.
  • Experience with strategic and tactical publication planning, including abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Experience with medical education meetings and omni-channel delivery.
  • Experience with matrix management, meeting facilitation, and project management skills.
  • Solid technical capabilities in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • 7+ years of disease experience or related area.
  • Local, regional, or global medical or R&D experience.
  • Familiarity with existing GSK platforms (e.g., Content Lab, Team Site, Workday, MS Teams).
  • Ability to build trusted partnerships between MAE and the business.
