About the position

The Senior Director of Change and Release Management at Marriott is a pivotal leadership role responsible for guiding a global team through a transformative period in IT. This position focuses on modernizing change and release management practices by integrating DevOps principles and ensuring compliance with IT Service Management (ITSM) standards. The role emphasizes fostering innovation, improving the flow of changes, proactively detecting potential issues, and ensuring rapid recovery from incidents. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to drive continuous improvement and align change management strategies with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the global Change and Release Management team through transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of processes for efficient change flow and release coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and relevant standards in change and release processes.
  • Act as the process owner for change management, evaluating risks associated with proposed changes.
  • Develop and document standards, processes, and tools for managing changes and releases.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding release management planning and performance.
  • Promote awareness of structured change and release control processes across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Change and Release Management function.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of overall work experience in Information Technology or related fields.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting cross-functional application and infrastructure teams.
  • 5+ years in a technical discipline role with experience in change and release processes.
  • 4+ years of applications support in a cloud environment and system implementation experience.
  • 4+ years ensuring compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience with ServiceNow ITSM, ITOM, and Asset Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IT outsourcing activities in a managed services environment.
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Experience in a DevSecOps environment.
  • Knowledge of measurement processes for assessing program outcomes.
  • Experience working with global teams across different time zones.
