About the position

The Senior Director of Change and Release Management at Marriott is a pivotal leadership role responsible for guiding a global team through a transformative period in IT. This position focuses on modernizing change and release management practices by integrating DevOps principles and ensuring compliance with security policies and standards. The director will oversee the development and implementation of processes that enhance the flow of changes, proactively address potential issues, and facilitate rapid recovery from incidents. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and the ability to foster innovation and continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the global Change and Release Management team through a period of transformation.
  • Orchestrate software and infrastructure changes across the organization.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of processes for efficient change flow and release coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and relevant standards in change and release processes.
  • Act as the process owner for change management, evaluating risks associated with proposed changes and releases.
  • Develop and document high-quality standards for application and infrastructure changes and releases.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding release management planning and performance against goals.
  • Promote awareness of structured change and release control processes across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Change and Release Management functions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of overall work experience in Information Technology or application development.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting cross-functional application and infrastructure teams with technology change and release needs.
  • 5+ years in a technical discipline role with experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating change and release processes.
  • 4+ years of applications support in a cloud environment and technical infrastructure experience.
  • 4+ years ensuring compliance with security policies and relevant standards in change and release processes.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Extensive experience with ServiceNow ITSM, ITOM, Asset Management, and Application Portfolio Management.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries to lead and influence continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IT outsourcing activities in a managed services environment.
  • Experience working in both private and public cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Experience operating in a DevSecOps environment.
  • Experience applying measurement processes for assessing program outputs and outcomes.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
