About the position

The Senior Director of Change and Release Management at Marriott International is a pivotal leadership role responsible for guiding a global team through a transformative period. This position focuses on modernizing the organization's approach to change and release management by integrating DevOps principles with traditional IT Service Management (ITSM) practices. The role emphasizes fostering innovation, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement in processes related to software and infrastructure changes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the global Change and Release Management team through transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of processes for efficient change flow and release coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and relevant standards in change and release processes.
  • Act as the process owner for change management, evaluating risks associated with proposed changes.
  • Develop and communicate effective strategies for change and release management to stakeholders.
  • Promote awareness of structured change and release control processes across the organization.
  • Collaborate with various teams to drive continuous improvement in change and release management practices.
  • Chair meetings to review and progress control of changes and releases, such as change advisory boards (CABs).
  • Conduct audits of the change and release process and implement necessary improvements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of overall work experience in Information Technology or application development.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting cross-functional application and infrastructure teams with technology change and release needs.
  • 5+ years in a technical discipline role with experience in planning and implementing change and release processes.
  • 4+ years of applications support in a cloud environment and technical infrastructure experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Extensive experience with ServiceNow ITSM, ITOM, Asset Management, and Application Portfolio Management.
  • Advanced knowledge of ITSM processes and infrastructure change and release management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IT outsourcing activities in a managed services environment.
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organizations.
  • Experience operating in a DevSecOps environment.
  • Knowledge of measurement processes for assessing program outputs and outcomes.
  • Experience working with global, distributed teams across different time zones.
