About the position

The Senior Director of IT for Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR) is a leadership role focused on overseeing technology service teams and managing IT operations within a healthcare context. This position is designed for an experienced IT professional looking to advance their career in a dynamic environment that combines the strengths of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Health Resources. The role involves strategic alignment of IT services with business needs, budget management, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within the IT department.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily activities of technology service teams, including software applications, infrastructure, customer service management, system access, data management, technical communications, recovery, and strategic alignment.
  • Oversee the IT budget, resource allocation, and financial performance with accuracy and precision.
  • Lead IT leaders, including hiring, training, developing talent, and succession planning.
  • Work with Information Security and Compliance to ensure the security and integrity of IT systems, data, and networks.
  • Collaborate with business to identify technology solutions for operational efficiency, productivity, and resiliency.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all IT resources in support of overall business and clinical operations.
  • Research and share emerging technologies, leading practices, and industry trends.
  • Oversee IT vendor relationships and contracts, reviewing and approving invoices, and managing IT assets.
  • Ensure on time, on design, and on budget IT projects.
  • Lead technical development of new lines of business and related services to support business operations.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, automation, and continuous improvement across IT and the business.
  • Act as the primary liaison between IT leadership of SWHR, UTSW, and THR.
  • Drive service excellence and stewardship of resources and relationships.
  • Actively take ownership over any technical issue that creates a business disruption.
  • Role model respect for staff, peers, leaders, and vendors.
  • Oversee technology service recovery function including root cause analysis and developing corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible, related experience, including at least 5 years in a management capacity.
  • Previous experience in IT portfolio management, IT operations, and IT financial management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or academic medical center preferred.
