About the position

The Senior Director of Legal Operations & Strategic Enablement is a pivotal member of the Legal Affairs and Policy Senior Leadership Team, acting as a strategic thought partner and change agent for the Chief Legal Officer and the Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities aimed at supporting various departments within the Legal Affairs Division. The primary objective is to drive the execution of the division's long-term strategic priorities, enabling departmental leadership to concentrate on delivering top-tier services to the enterprise. The Senior Director will lead strategic divisional and departmental initiatives, focusing on process design and improvement, resource allocation, and prioritization issues, while managing programs and projects that provide insights and reporting from the broader Legal Affairs Division portfolio. In this capacity, the Senior Director will cultivate strong and productive relationships across the enterprise, influencing and informing resource allocation to meet the strategic needs of the organization. This role is essential in fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the Legal Affairs and Policy Division. The Senior Director will establish a cohesive operating model for Legal Affairs, guiding the organization through the development of strategic plans, streamlining workflows, and creating an operational roadmap that aligns with organizational priorities and mitigates risks. Additionally, the Senior Director will partner with the Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs, and departmental leadership on budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring fiscal responsibility and optimizing resource utilization across departments. This position requires a leader who can manage special projects on behalf of the Chief Legal Officer or Senior Vice President, focusing on operational effectiveness and stakeholder engagement. The Senior Director will also work with cross-functional leaders to establish and measure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and financial targets, thereby enhancing the operational functionality of the Legal Affairs teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees a team of legal operations and strategy enablement professionals dedicated to assessing and improving the operational functionality of the Legal Affairs teams.
  • Takes a leading role in driving culture change in the Legal Affairs and Policy Division focused on delivering proactive, value-add services with a client-oriented focus.
  • Establishes a cross-divisional operating model for Legal Affairs to guide the organization by developing and supervising cohesive strategic plans.
  • Partners with CLO and SVP of Legal Affairs on budgeting and forecasting processes for the legal affairs division.
  • Exerts influential leadership to ensure understanding and connection across functions to help determine dependencies and impacts.
  • Manages special projects and initiatives on behalf of the Chief Legal Officer or SVP of Legal Affairs, focusing on operational effectiveness.
  • Works with cross-functional leaders to establish and measure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), SLAs, and financial targets.
  • Provides expert and strategic support to the Legal Affairs Senior Leadership Team to create and communicate a long-range strategy for Legal Affairs.
  • Promotes and facilitates diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes through the Legal Affairs and Policy function.
  • Utilizes data analytics and market insights to drive informed decision-making.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and willingness to lead as a change agent.
  • Experience developing strategic planning materials that required consensus gathering and collaboration from multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong partnering and influencing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a complex and fast-paced inter-disciplinary legal environment.
  • Ability to convey information in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
  • Skillsets in people leadership, team building, staff development, and mentoring across reporting lines.
  • Excellent prioritization, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise a flexible and curious mindset.
