About the position

Walmart Connect is Walmart's advertising platform designed to reach hundreds of millions of U.S. shoppers throughout their shopping journey. The Head of Marketing and Creative at Walmart Connect is seeking a seasoned B2B marketer to lead the Brand Strategy and Enterprise Sales marketing team. This role is pivotal in driving the "must buy" status for Connect's ad products across the media industry by enhancing awareness and comprehension of Walmart Connect's unique value proposition. The successful candidate will oversee a team of 25-35 B2B marketers who are responsible for guiding the Walmart Connect brand strategy, organizing events, and executing ad sales marketing initiatives targeting various ad buying cohorts and category verticals. The ideal candidate will possess over 15 years of experience leading an ad sales marketing team for a major media platform, preferably in the New York or San Francisco metro areas. They should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with executive presence. The role requires expertise in developing strategies, crafting messages, and organizing events that effectively differentiate Walmart Connect's offerings and resonate with target audiences to drive ad revenue goals. A deep understanding of effective execution and a proven ability to coach teams in delivering measurable outcomes through data-driven marketing are essential. In this role, you will be responsible for developing both short- and long-term visions for the Walmart Connect brand, creating and measuring the effectiveness of the annual brand strategy, and collaborating with the Corporate Communications team to build and align on key messaging strategies. You will also be an integral part of the Walmart Connect Marketing leadership team, attending bi-weekly meetings and quarterly off-sites to drive departmental vision, mission, annual operating plans, budgeting, headcount planning, strategy, tactics, OKRs, and employee satisfaction. Presenting strategic initiatives and measurable results at quarterly business reviews will also be a key responsibility. Additionally, you will drive collaboration with key cross-functional partners, including Walmart Connect executive leadership, sales leaders, corporate communications, product marketing, growth marketing, training and education, HR business partners, marketing operations, and the Walmart events and shows team. Leading a positive team culture that aligns with Walmart's values and drives team satisfaction will be crucial, as will implementing plans to coach, motivate, and develop team members. You will oversee the delivery of sales narratives, effective ad campaigns, sales enablement content, and the management of the Walmart Connect website and marketing calendar. Furthermore, you will manage industry events, logistics, and content for a 2-day sales summit, and ensure the delivery of insights from customer and brand health metric studies to inform future strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop both the short- and long-term vision for the Walmart Connect brand.
  • Create and measure the effectiveness of the annual brand strategy and the 3-year long-term vision.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team to build, drive alignment for, and adoption of an annual key messaging strategy and unique value proposition.
  • Act as an integral part of the Walmart Connect Marketing leadership team.
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings and quarterly off-sites to drive departmental wide vision, mission, annual operating plans, budgeting, headcount planning, strategy, tactics, OKRs and employee satisfaction.
  • Present team strategic initiatives and measurable results at quarterly business reviews.
  • Drive active collaboration and healthy partnership with key cross functional collaborators and internal clients.
  • Lead a healthy and positive team culture that lives up to the published Walmart values and drives team satisfaction as measured by an annual engagement study.
  • Implement plans to coach, motivate and develop individuals on the team with clarity on personal goals and growth plans.
  • Coach direct reports in delivery of tactics and key results in the strategy including sales narratives, effective ad campaigns, and sales enablement content.
  • Manage the Walmartconnect.com website strategy and management.
  • Oversee the marcom calendar of key messages and activations.
  • Protect and evolve the Walmart Connect brand management vision, voice, and creative guidelines.
  • Contract with 3rd party agencies and external service providers as needed.
  • Maintain a content library for approved sales marketing materials.
  • Manage the advertising help center content and industry event footprint.
  • Oversee all aspects of a 2-day sales summit annual kick-off for ~1000 associates.
  • Manage trade organization memberships and benefit activations.
  • Oversee branded swag purchasing and online store inventory.
  • Conduct voice of customer and brand health metric studies to drive future strategy and score cards to track progress.
  • Drive new, compelling claims to prove our value, scale and performance.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience leading an ad sales marketing team for a major media platform.
  • Experience and influence driving cross-functional partnerships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and executive presence.
  • A proven track record in building marketing strategies that drive measurable results.
  • A passion for crafting a brand's unique value proposition and bringing benefits of buying to life.
  • Experience producing events and content for conferences, presentations, and stage shows.
  • Ability to coach others to deliver performant, unique, brand appropriate tactics on time and in budget.
