About the position

The Senior Director of Marketing Communications will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the global marketing strategy for SAE International. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in integrated marketing, particularly in digital, social, and mobile platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing impactful marketing strategies that align with organizational objectives and enhance brand visibility on a global scale, with a focus on expanding presence in Europe and Asia. In this role, the Senior Director will lead the planning and execution of comprehensive marketing campaigns across various platforms, including digital channels, social media, email, physical mailings, and events. The individual will craft and implement branding strategies that authentically reflect the organization's mission, vision, and values, ensuring cohesive communication both internally and externally. Performance monitoring will be a key responsibility, as the director will evaluate campaign effectiveness, measure ROI, and provide regular reports to leadership to facilitate data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the Senior Director will oversee the creation of marketing content, ensuring alignment with strategic messaging and engagement goals. This includes managing the website strategy and e-commerce initiatives to drive retail sales while maintaining brand integrity. The role also involves managing relationships with external marketing agencies, negotiating contracts, and monitoring their performance to ensure alignment with SAE International's goals. Budget management is crucial, as the director will prepare annual budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Furthermore, the position entails recruiting, training, and developing marketing staff to foster a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement impactful global marketing strategies that align with organizational objectives and maximize brand visibility.
  • Lead the planning and execution of comprehensive marketing campaigns across diverse platforms including digital, social media, email, physical mailings, and events.
  • Grow SAE's brand awareness and presence on a global stage with particular emphasis on Europe and Asia.
  • Craft and execute branding strategies that authentically reflect our mission, vision, and values.
  • Oversee the overall company and product branding, including design, logo, and messaging, both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for cohesive and accurate communication.
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, measure ROI, and provide regular reports to leadership to enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive the promotion of our resources and brand to maximize visibility, engagement, and overall impact.
  • Oversee marketing content creation, ensuring alignment with strategic messaging, promotion, and engagement goals.
  • Collaborate with content creators to unify and amplify marketing messages.
  • Lead a coordinated web strategy across SAE International, including the implementation of websites, mobile apps, and other digital products.
  • Oversee the e-commerce strategy to drive web retail sales, ensuring alignment with branding and strategic objectives.
  • Manage relationships with external marketing agencies, ensuring their strategies align with SAE International's goals and standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with agencies to secure advantageous terms.
  • Monitor the performance of external agencies and provide feedback to ensure goal attainment and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare an annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions to achieve financial objectives.
  • Recruit, select, orient, and train marketing staff, maintaining a high-performing team.
  • Provide information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities for marketing staff.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of professional experience in developing and executing successful integrated marketing plans.
  • 10+ years of experience in developing and executing digital/social/mobile marketing plans, managing marketing projects, and managing staff.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Marketing Director or similar role, preferably in a relevant industry.
  • Strong understanding of market research and data analysis methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of various marketing platforms and best practices.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Strong quantitative and metrics development skills.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time.
