About the position
The Senior Director of Engineering will lead the engineering team at a prominent video game developer and publisher based in Austin, TX. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on engineering work, focusing on driving team growth and overseeing innovative game development projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software engineering, particularly within the video game industry, and will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and engineering managers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 20 engineers and 3 engineering managers.
- Drive the growth and development of the engineering team.
- Conceptualize, craft, and troubleshoot complex systems and key features for video games.
- Actively contribute as a developer when needed, particularly in C+ and Unreal Engine.
- Oversee the delivery of multiple titles across modern gaming platforms.
Requirements
- 15 years of experience in Software Engineering.
- 5+ years of engineering experience in the Video Game Industry.
- Proficiency in C+ development and scripting languages such as Blueprint, LUA, C#, and Python.
- Experience working with other video game developers and publishers.
- A track record of delivering multiple titles across modern gaming platforms.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Unreal Engine and version control systems.
- Strong leadership and management skills in an engineering context.
