Reporting to the Vice President for Georgetown University's Medical Center, the Senior Director of Operations will serve as a key convener, collaborator, and project manager for the GUMC Advancement team, who are working to advance and secure significant philanthropic support for Georgetown's Medical Center. Leading and working on a wide range of projects and activities, from the directive of the VP, this role will work to enhance and accelerate the office of the VP, the entire Medical Development team, and partnership with central Advancement. This role will be highly collaborative; interacting with colleagues from the office of the Executive Vice President for GUMC, MedStar, University campus, and external constituents - all to strengthen, extend and leverage ties with critical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, planning, and execution of top strategic and operational priorities for GUMC Advancement.
  • Manage key projects and build processes when necessary.
  • Work closely with various subject matter experts to improve existing partnerships and the optimal use of policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Help create, develop, and coordinate strategies for advancement initiatives, representing the VP in specified meetings and convenings.
  • Participate in relevant discussions and strategic planning, providing operational and project-related assistance to senior development officers.
  • Partner closely with internal colleagues to design, implement, and monitor processes to track GUMC campaign goals and fundraising progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in strategic planning, non-profit management, higher education advancement, project management, communications, or a related field, with at least five years at a senior-level role.
  • Proven track record of success in spearheading strategic initiatives and driving innovation in a higher education setting or another similarly complex organization.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of fundraising with the university's academic operation and financial priorities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts and budgeting principles.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and process improvement with a collaborative, team-oriented, and influential leadership style.
