About the position

The Senior Director of Software Engineering at Pattern is responsible for leading and scaling global engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, particularly focusing on the Predict product within the PXM platform. This role emphasizes operational excellence, leadership development, and collaboration across various teams to drive strategic initiatives in e-commerce analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a large, global software engineering team, overseeing approximately 8 engineers in the US and 40 in India.
  • Drive the strategic vision and technical direction of engineering initiatives for Pattern's ecommerce analytics software, Predict.
  • Oversee the development, execution, and delivery of software projects, managing the SDLC and ensuring timely releases and high quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and deliver on key business initiatives.
  • Streamline processes, optimize team structures, and manage resources effectively across projects.
  • Promote a strong focus on software quality, scalability, security, and performance, with regular assessments and improvements to engineering practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring teams are equipped with necessary tools and resources.
  • Recruit and hire top-level talent to ensure the highest quality.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale projects.
  • 5-7 years of leadership experience managing diverse engineering teams, with success in building high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing large teams of 20+ engineers, focusing on scaling teams and driving operational efficiency.
  • Proven ability to manage and collaborate with global teams, including oversight of offshore development teams.
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, including agile methodologies and software development lifecycle.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior SaaS experience to anticipate and drive improvements in engineering processes.
  • Experience managing overseas teams to foster a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Ability to build scaled applications on AWS.
