About the position

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Senior Director of Space Mission Operations to lead and direct all activities related to the MOSSI II program. This role involves planning and executing program activities, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring that all operations meet safety, technical, cost, schedule, and quality requirements. The Senior Director will rely on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals, demonstrating creativity and latitude in decision-making. The position requires a deep understanding of industry developments and trends, as well as methodologies for designing and managing service products. The Senior Director will serve as the primary point of contact for the Payload and Mission Operations Division (PMOD) and will be responsible for program management, including project management, cost management, and personnel management. This role also involves developing management systems to ensure timely and accurate reporting to government stakeholders, coordinating production activities across various functions, and establishing department standards and practices. The Senior Director will oversee the hiring, training, and development of staff, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. Additionally, the role includes formulating proposals, reviewing budgets, and implementing methods for monitoring project progress. The Senior Director will provide leadership to mid-level management and ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment for all employees. This position requires daily availability, including evenings and weekends, to meet goals and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct all MOSSI II program activities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor goals, policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Manage and direct overall efforts to meet safety, technical, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for interface with PMOD and Contracting Officer's Technical Representative.
  • Develop management systems for timely and accurate technical, cost, and schedule information.
  • Coordinate production activities with other functions such as marketing, customer service, and process engineering.
  • Responsible for employment, training, motivation, counseling, and discipline of employees.
  • Develop and establish department standards and practices.
  • Formulate and recommend engineering policies and programs to improve competitive position and profitability.
  • Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish manufacturing plan goals.
  • Hires, trains, develops, and evaluates staff, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Identify and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Plan and formulate aspects of proposals, including project objectives and resource requirements.
  • Review and analyze proposals to determine feasibility and benefits.
  • Develop and implement methods for monitoring projects and reporting to senior management.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to management, including policy formulation.
  • Establish operational objectives and direct subordinates to achieve assignments.
  • Supervise mid-level management and professional staff, providing guidance according to policies.
  • Prepare reports and identify obstacles to achieving business goals.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment for employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business discipline or a technical discipline related to production/quality and engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years of directly related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Master's degree highly preferred and may substitute for 2 years' experience.
  • Minimum of 9 years' supervisory/management experience.
