About the position
The Senior Director of Procurement - Logistics will play a pivotal role in optimizing the logistics network and fostering strategic partnerships with logistics partners in warehousing and transportation. This position involves directing the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives to enhance capacity, achieve savings, and maintain quality standards. The role requires collaboration across various divisions to ensure effective procurement strategies and the development of a high-performing procurement team.
Responsibilities
- Direct the development and implementation of strategic sourcing for logistics networks.
- Develop strategy and structure for logistics spend to support operating divisions.
- Gain advantage on spend consolidation and specification standardization.
- Develop and maintain high-level business relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Create an engagement and communication strategy for sourcing initiatives.
- Lead the procurement team, including employee selection, training, and performance evaluation.
- Provide high-level procurement support to international operations.
- Participate in developing the strategic direction of the company.
- Utilize expertise in market trends for logistics forecasting.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or a related area.
- Expertise in purchasing concepts and techniques.
- Experience in strategic sourcing and category management specific to logistics.
- Operational experience in logistics and contract management best practices.
- Knowledge of strategic planning and forecasting concepts.
- Familiarity with project management concepts and budgetary procedures.
