About the position

The Senior Director, Product Manager at Harman will lead the Car Audio Business Unit within the Automotive Division, focusing on defining and developing innovative sound system architectures and products. This role involves strategic oversight of product management, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and ensuring alignment with market needs and consumer behaviors. The successful candidate will manage a large team and drive the product strategy, roadmaps, and business models for Harman-branded sound systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify gaps and generate new ideas to improve consumer experience and address OEM partner needs.
  • Define OEM-winning system, product, and brand value propositions to differentiate HARMAN and increase revenue.
  • Translate consumer insights and technology roadmaps into cohesive branded system definitions and support component productization.
  • Manage structured reviews of branded system concepts aligned with a 2-3 year plan.
  • Deliver system and branded system-level MRD and PRDs with prioritized features.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes.
  • Work closely with engineering teams for quick time-to-market.
  • Analyze market data to define system requirements including performance and pricing.
  • Develop core value propositions and messaging for Harman's branded systems.
  • Identify Go-To-Market strategies for branded audio systems.
  • Create buy-in for the branded system vision with internal and external partners.
  • Drive early development phases including ideation and pre-development activities.
  • Support product development and launch efforts across various teams.
  • Develop sales tools and collateral in collaboration with marketing teams.
  • Train the sales force at quarterly meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in product management, particularly in audio or automotive industries.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams.
  • Proven ability to define product strategies and roadmaps based on market insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
