About the position

The Senior Director of Rehab & Nursing Centers at Corewell Health is responsible for providing strategic leadership and administrative oversight for designated business lines within the Continuing Care division. This role involves building effective relationships with health system leadership, physicians, and the community to ensure the delivery of high-quality, clinically superior services. The Senior Director will oversee the strategy and operations of the Rehab and Nursing Centers (RNC) and Senior Services, including Assisted Living and Independent Living, across all care regions. The focus will be on market growth, achieving revenue and expense targets, and enhancing patient and employee satisfaction. As a member of the CHCC executive team, the Senior Director will partner with Corewell Health System entities to leverage clinical business and service quality initiatives. The position requires adaptability to changing demands and circumstances while leading and directing actions that are in the best interest of the business. In this role, the Senior Director will provide strategic direction and leadership for the growth and development of the RNCs, assuming authority and accountability for directing all activities and programs across all care regions. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining the annual operation budget, ensuring operations are managed within established guidelines, and planning coordinated programs to maximize operational efficiencies. The Senior Director will delegate administrative authority and responsibility to staff personnel as necessary, hire and direct service line administrators and program directors, and mentor team members through empowerment and business experiences. Continuous monitoring of processes and services for quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency is essential, along with engaging in process and quality improvement activities. The Senior Director will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, organizational policies, and accreditation requirements, serving as a liaison between Continuing Care, Regional Hospitals, and System Leadership regarding RNC strategy and operations. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the organization is crucial, as is providing senior management with information on the implications of policies and procedures being formulated, along with recommending specific actions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the growth and development of the RNCs for Continuing Care and the broader health delivery system.
  • Direct all activities and programs of the RNCs across all care regions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the annual operation budget, ensuring operations are managed within established guidelines.
  • Plan, develop, and implement coordinated programs to maximize operational efficiencies for achieving objectives.
  • Delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to staff personnel as necessary.
  • Hire and direct all service line administrators and program directors, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Monitor processes and services for quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency, engaging in process and quality improvement activities.
  • Ensure services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policy, accreditation, and compliance requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between Continuing Care, Regional Hospitals, and System Leadership regarding RNC strategy and operations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization, providing information to senior management on policy implications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or MBA is preferred.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in a post-acute setting, preferably in a multi-site operation is required.
  • 5 years of relevant leadership experience is required.
  • Experience working in a health system or integrated delivery network is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License in the State of Michigan is required upon hire.
  • Nursing Home Administrator License in the State of Michigan is preferred upon hire.
