About the position

The Senior Director of Science & Machine Learning at SiriusXM will lead a team focused on developing machine learning strategies to enhance listener and content understanding across various products. This role involves collaboration with engineering and product teams to drive the technical strategy for AI Foundations, aiming to improve user experiences through advanced machine learning models and data science applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross functionally with product, business and engineering teams to develop ML strategy for Content Understanding platform
  • Manage a team of ML and Science managers to build ML models to improve quality of downstream use cases such as search, recommendations and ads
  • Be a thought leader in scaling machine learning frameworks and models into production in collaboration with Back End and Data Engineering teams
  • Provide technical leadership, driving execution, and defining a long-term technical roadmap for the team
  • Develop a vision and seek opportunities to apply machine learning models and data science across all products to improve content knowledge
  • Foster a culture of innovation, impact, collaboration and inclusion within your team and the broader Science and Machine Learning organization
  • Mentor ML and Science Managers to improve the team health
  • Prepare and present executive summaries of results to stakeholders in product, engineering and business organizations
  • Promote research and the application of the latest machine learning and algorithmic approaches and technologies in regards to NLP, Graph Models and Music Information Retrieval

Requirements

  • MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in the development of machine learning systems and algorithms including 6+ years leading ML teams
  • Experience with ML/AI algorithms, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and knowledge graphs and feature stores
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead multi-functional efforts
  • A hybrid between being a strategic thinker and driver of operational excellence
  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Commitment to 'internal client' and customer service principles
  • Strong working knowledge of machine learning and data science technologies and landscape
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects

  • Competitive salary range of $257,200 to $345,000 based on skills and experience
