About the position

The Senior Director of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at Verizon is responsible for leading the SRE functions across all VCG applications, including Digital, Assisted, and MarTech systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in engineering practices such as CI/CD, DevSecOps, and cloud technologies, particularly AWS. The director will set the vision and technical standards for operations, ensuring the reliability of applications and driving innovative solutions to enhance customer experience. The position involves collaboration with stakeholders, managing a team, and overseeing the operational budget while focusing on continuous improvement and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and development of innovative solutions for the AIOps platform.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to enable best-in-class operations practices.
  • Drive IT systems reliability for customer experience using emerging technologies.
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of AIOps programs on web and cloud platforms.
  • Lead technology migrations for engagement channels.
  • Drive efforts for real-time alerting based on various data sources.
  • Analyze data with AI/ML algorithms to detect anomalies and predict outages.
  • Implement auto healing workflows for problem remediation.
  • Lead anomaly detection for application error codes and traffic analysis.
  • Promote a culture of automation across all processes and infrastructure management.
  • Interface with senior staff to ensure compliance with GTS policies and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of IT experience in networking, applications, infrastructure, or database architectures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience leading a large, global, complex technology-based organization.
  • Ability to balance multiple stakeholder interests and act as a thought partner for senior leaders.
  • Experience in managing employee and consultant headcount within budget.
  • Cross-team collaboration at leadership level to achieve strategic goals.
  • Innovative application of data-driven performance management.
  • Experience in software development, delivery lifecycle, and application modernization.
  • Knowledge of IT security, compliance, operations, and application development.
  • Experience with cloud and container platform strategies and migrations.
