About the position

The Senior Director of Technical Program Management at Coupang is responsible for leading a division of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) that partner with the Infrastructure Platform organization. This role involves recruiting, mentoring, and developing a highly technical team of TPMs to drive critical initiatives that enhance the reliability and scalability of Coupang's technology infrastructure. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, program management experience, and strong communication skills to manage complex programs and collaborate across teams effectively.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the VP of infrastructure engineering to plan and execute program strategy
• Demonstrate strong functional & technical system design ability
• Dive deep into existing platform limitations to address scalability and reliability issues
• Develop solutions to improve productivity & efficiency for Coupang's tech organization
• Own, manage, and deliver multiple large-scale, complex programs across organizations
• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail
• Manage cultural change within the organization
• Be flexible in working schedule to accommodate evening hours as needed
• Travel once per quarter to Seoul, Mountain View, or other office locations.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in managing engineering or TPM teams
• 5+ years in building and improving common platforms including AWS cloud products and CI/CD tooling
• Experience leading and mentoring TPMs
• Excellent cross-group collaboration skills
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to make a large impact in the role.
