About the position

The Senior Director/Vice President of Strategy & Human Resources Operations at Flagship Pioneering is a pivotal leadership role designed to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Human Resources (HR) department. This position will work closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to support strategic planning and the execution of HR initiatives that align with the company's overarching goals. The individual in this role will oversee special projects, manage the HR budget, and develop comprehensive communication strategies to ensure clarity and alignment across the organization. In addition to strategic oversight, the Senior Director/VP will lead enterprise-wide HR service delivery, which includes managing the hire-to-retire lifecycle administration, risk and compliance, and strategic partner/vendor management. This role is crucial for managing the complex network of HR operations stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure a high-quality employee experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive analyses of current HR processes, identifying areas for enhancement, and facilitating strategic planning sessions with key stakeholders. The role also involves monitoring industry trends and regulatory changes to keep the HR strategy forward-thinking and compliant. The Senior Director/VP will create and manage project plans to ensure timely execution of strategic HR initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within HR operations. This includes leading change management efforts to support the adoption of new HR strategies and initiatives, as well as advocating for the HR strategy across the organization to ensure buy-in from all levels of staff. Furthermore, the position will require conceptualizing and managing HR All Hands and offsite events, ensuring effective communication and engagement throughout the HR function.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CHRO and HR leadership team to develop and implement the HR strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of current HR processes to identify areas for strategic enhancement.
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions and workshops with key stakeholders.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and forward-thinking HR strategy.
  • Integrate data insights and metrics to inform strategic decision-making processes.
  • Develop strategic roadmaps to guide the HR team in achieving objectives.
  • Create and manage project plans for timely execution of HR initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within HR operations.
  • Lead change management efforts for new HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Communicate and advocate the HR strategy across the organization.
  • Conceptualize, manage, and run HR All Hands and HR offsite events.
  • Oversee the HR department's budget and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Prepare, monitor, and control the HR department's operating budget and expenditures.
  • Develop and implement effective HR communication strategies and plans.
  • Manage and develop the HR Operations team to ensure alignment on proposed processes.
  • Create and drive a strategic roadmap for process excellence and optimization.
  • Lead continuous improvement strategies utilizing data and stakeholder feedback.
  • Partner with the legal team to ensure necessary policies are in place across global offices.
  • Collaborate with the HR Technology function for operational governance.
  • Lead the spin-off of companies from the Flagship Ecosystem from an HR operations perspective.
  • Develop and execute a social media strategy in partnership with the CHRO.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts, analyzing staffing needs and trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15-20 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5-7 years of management experience.
  • Proven experience in project management and financial acumen.
  • Experience in running HR operations functions is critical.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to energize, inspire, and motivate a team to exceed objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for decision-making.
