About the position

As a Senior Distribution Engineer 1 at Southern California Edison (SCE), you will serve as the senior power engineer for the North Coast Region, focusing on creating a safe, reliable, resilient, and cost-efficient power distribution system. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, advocating for advanced power system technologies, and performing detailed engineering studies to enhance the distribution infrastructure. Your contributions will play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner air, aligning with SCE's mission to innovate and lead in the clean energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups
  • Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies
  • Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations
  • Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases
  • Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings
  • Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems
  • Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field
  • Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience with power system transmission or distribution analysis tools, such as PSLF, OMS, DMS, EMS, and CYME-D or other similar software
  • Professional Engineer's License
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and/or a team
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management enterprise-wide to develop solutions and ensure partner consensus
  • Demonstrated experience with project management concepts and experience including planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and coordinating multiple projects
