The Draftsman will play a crucial role in managing the drafting system utilized for generating all designs within the engineering department. This position involves collaborating with various departments to establish and optimize software add-ons that enhance configuration and documentation control. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong capability in mastering all aspects of 3-D concepts, drafting rules, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Proficiency in SolidWorks and Pro-E Creo is essential, as the Draftsman will be responsible for maintaining software and hardware to maximize the performance of the current CAD system. In addition to technical skills, the Draftsman will be expected to master the current part number structuring system and actively contribute to improving all technical documentation systems. A thorough understanding of the Configuration Control System is necessary, as the Draftsman will assist other departments in implementing CAD communication software to boost productivity. The role requires the ability to manage and document the evolution of assigned designs, showcasing strong technical communication and organizational skills. The Draftsman will also be responsible for creating and maintaining standard work and best practices for drafting and modeling standards. Intermediate skills with the MS Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel, are required. The position involves performing tolerance stack-ups, basic drawing and design checking, and regular Engineering Change Order (ECO) processing, which includes document preparation, submission, and drafting support. Additionally, the Draftsman will utilize the Made2Manage ERP system for configuration changes and participate in cost-reduction and LEAN projects, providing support to various functional areas such as Sales, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and Strategic Sourcing. The Draftsman will also assist Design Engineering as needed for processing drawing, process, and testing updates.
