About the position

GPI is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to develop innovative drainage solutions for communities in the Tampa and Orlando regions. This role emphasizes project management, collaboration, and client relationship building, providing opportunities to mentor entry-level staff and contribute to community improvement. Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of conveyance systems.
  • Design and analyze cross drains and stormwater management facilities.
  • Perform floodplain compensation analysis.
  • Design and inspect best management practices for erosion and sediment control.
  • Prepare technical documents including drainage reports, pond siting reports, and bridge hydraulics reports with minimal oversight.
  • Create construction plans consistent with FDOT standards.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of Staff-level Engineers.
  • Assist with quality control of construction plans and design documents generated by team members.
  • Support project pursuits including Letters of Recommendation, Technical Proposals, and Presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in highway drainage design and plan production.
  • Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulic analysis, and design of flood control/storm-water management facilities.
  • Florida PE license required.
  • Proficient with MicroStation and stormwater design tools such as SUDA, Geopak Drainage, PONDS, ICPR, FlowMaster, StormCAD, HY-8, and HEC-RAS.
  • Familiarity with FDOT design standards and criteria related to drainage design and plans production.
  • Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team to meet design and schedule requirements.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP permitting requirements with water management districts in Florida.
  • Experience in the development of BHRs including scour analyses.
