About the position

LMI is seeking a Senior Editor to join our team in McLean, VA, dedicated to supporting the Intelligence Community (IC). This full-time position involves a client-facing role where the ideal candidate will be responsible for proofreading and copy-editing finished intelligence content. The Senior Editor will work closely with analysts, graphic designers, cartographers, and fellow editors to ensure the highest quality of intelligence products. This role is critical in enforcing and clarifying tradecraft standards, ensuring that all documents meet the necessary classification and control markings, and adhere to office policies and procedures regarding formatting, graphics, and legal compliance. The Senior Editor will provide strong substantive reviews for analytic tradecraft and writing style, ensuring that all content is not only accurate but also engaging and accessible. This includes providing constructive feedback to authors, ensuring that their work incorporates recent innovations in presentation and format. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the nuances of intelligence writing and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team of professionals. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and quality of intelligence products that inform critical national security decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong substantive review for analytic tradecraft and writing style, copy editing, and proofing.
  • Ensure appropriate classification and control markings of all documents.
  • Adhere to office policies and procedures on issues such as formatting, graphics, and compliance with legal guidance.
  • Provide constructive information and feedback to authors.
  • Ensure content incorporates recent innovations in presentation and format.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI with polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Writing, Communications or similarly related discipline, or a degree relevant to national security.
  • 10+ years of experience as an Intelligence Analyst and/or IC Editor.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in IC and DA tradecraft standards.
  • Excellent working skills/knowledge providing editing support.
  • Excellent working interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently or collaboratively in an office environment.
