About the position

The Senior Electrical CAD Designer at Air Products is responsible for developing industrial electrical design construction drawings in accordance with company standards and the National Electrical Code (NEC). This role requires minimal supervision and involves managing multiple project tasks simultaneously. The position is based at the Global Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, PA, and reports to the Manager of Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop industrial electrical design construction drawings per Air Products standards and NEC.
  • Distribute and control alternating current electrical voltage classes from 120 volts to 15,000 volts.
  • Understand and work with piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) and electrical interfaces.
  • Design and layout underground conduit and grounding systems.
  • Interpret and develop medium voltage and 480-volt single line diagrams, including motor control centers.
  • Determine medium and low voltage feeder cable sizing based on NEC calculations.
  • Develop control schematics and physical layout drawings from various specifications and vendor drawings.
  • Create cable tray layout drawings for power, control, and instrumentation wiring.
  • Design industrial exterior and interior lighting systems and electric heat tracing for freeze protection.
  • Design communications and fiber optic systems.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology or 5 years as a journeyman electrician.
  • Solid working knowledge of Bentley Systems, Inc. MicroStation CAD preferred.
  • Strong drafting background using AutoCAD considered.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the current National Electrical Code, especially sections on Wire and Cable, Raceway Systems, Motors and Motor Controls, and Hazardous Areas.
  • Ability to travel 15% in North America.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with raster document overlay editing applications for CAD software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.
