About the position

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Spectra Tech, Inc. is responsible for designing electrical systems for various clients, including government, military, universities, and private entities. This role involves providing both conceptual and detailed designs for facility power distribution, emergency power generation, telecommunications, and other specialized systems. The engineer will also prepare supporting documentation, collaborate with clients, and manage a team of engineers and designers, ensuring project accuracy and adherence to deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for facilities for Government, Military, University, and private clients.
  • Provide conceptual and detailed design and analysis for facility power distribution (600V) and site power distribution (15kV).
  • Design emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm/mass notification, security, and access control systems.
  • Prepare supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package and meet schedule and budget commitments.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work effectively within a collaborative team environment and complete tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, delegating work as required and providing management of the local team.
  • Manage direct reports of local and remote engineering staff, providing leadership and conducting annual performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Twelve (12) years of experience in facility Electrical Engineering design.
  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience using REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software-based drawing generation.
  • Experience using electrical calculation tools, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, and EasyPower.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
  • Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE is required.
  • Experience with Department of Defense and government clients is highly desired.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
