About the position

The Senior Electrical Designer will play a crucial role in the design and documentation of electrical systems for the AP1000 nuclear power reactors project in Poland. This position requires a full-time presence in the Reston, Virginia project office and involves responsibilities such as raceway design, equipment layout, and compliance with installation codes and standards. The designer will work closely with engineering teams and must possess strong CADD skills and experience in nuclear plant design.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for raceway design, equipment location and layout, and conduit design.
  • Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope.
  • Design lighting, communications, grounding layout, and lightning protection systems.
  • Ensure electrical systems designs comply with applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Interface with Construction and Subcontractors as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Utilize computer programs such as Microsoft Windows suite and CADD tools.

Requirements

  • AA/AS degree with 11 years of related electrical design experience, or a high school diploma and 15 years of related design experience.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain it.
  • Prior experience in a Nuclear, Quality, and Safety Environment.
  • Experience in nuclear plant design (power plant or DOE facility).
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with client standard programs.
  • Hands-on experience with SETROUTE program.
  • Experience with Revit design tools.
  • Experience with SmartPlant 3D design tools.
  • Knowledge of design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPS).
  • Experience in construction interface and resolving field problems.
