About the position

Join Collins Aerospace, a leader in advanced technology solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, as a Senior Electrical Engineer in our Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) group. This role is pivotal in supporting the next generation of Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems and enhancing existing fielded systems. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in power electronic circuits and hardware design to meet system requirements. This position requires a blend of traditional design techniques, modern power electronics knowledge, and hands-on laboratory skills. You will be part of a dynamic team that is committed to redefining the future of aerospace technology. In this role, you will take on strategic leadership in design, spearheading hardware development activities to ensure alignment with project requirements. Your innovative design expertise will be crucial as you lead the design and development of cutting-edge power system hardware. You will also conduct rigorous testing, validating engineering change proposals and ensuring the integrity of solutions through detailed verification test plans and reports. Collaboration is key; you will interface with various engineering disciplines to foster a collaborative ecosystem that drives innovation and efficiency in product development. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for flexibility with three days onsite per week and a 9/80 work model, providing every other Friday off. Responsibilities

  • Lead design activities as the Senior Electrical Engineer to ensure hardware development aligns with project requirements.
  • Design and develop cutting-edge power system hardware, showcasing innovative and technical skills.
  • Conduct meticulous lab testing to validate engineering change proposals and ensure solution integrity through detailed verification test plans and reports.
  • Collaborate with diverse engineering disciplines and supply chain partners to drive innovation and efficiency in product development.
  • Ensure clear and organized technical documentation on Configuration Control, Change Management, Trade Studies, and Design artifacts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in designing, evaluating, and testing power supplies.
  • Experience in collaborating with diverse engineering disciplines and customers to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in PCB/PWB design and crafting efficient electrical circuits.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) for effective communication and presentations.
  • Typically requires a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Design experience with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) power supply devices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
