About the position

H2M Architects + Engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm located in the NY Metropolitan Area, is seeking a licensed Senior Project Electrical Engineer to join our Windsor, CT team. This position is crucial as it involves designing and overseeing the implementation of electrical systems that are integral to building operations, even if they are often hidden from view. Our engineers focus on creating detailed, high-quality drawings and engage directly with clients to fully understand the scope of work before commencing design. This proactive approach includes field measurements and thorough inquiries to ensure that the designs are practical and minimize the potential for change orders during construction. Our MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) solutions prioritize building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort, ensuring that our clients' buildings operate seamlessly. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will collaborate with a diverse team of architects, civil engineers, and environmental scientists to execute electrical engineering design work for both public and private sector clients. Your role will involve coordinating efforts with both in-house and external teams responsible for power generation, distribution, low voltage systems, lighting, communication, fire alarm, and security system design. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is comfortable managing projects while also interfacing with clients to help grow our business. Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems including power distribution, stand-by power generation, lighting, communication, fire alarm, and security systems.
  • Supervise a group of Electrical Engineers in project design and development tasks, including drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications.
  • Respond to client questions and comments, review contractor submittals, and provide clarifications during construction.
  • Review electrical department design documents for completion and ensure adherence to accepted industry and company standards.
  • Assist in the development of company quality standards and procedures.
  • Work closely with management and electrical department leadership to develop and implement electrical manpower and production plans to meet project objectives.
  • Assist in business development initiatives to pursue new projects, including participation in client presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • 7 years of experience with a consulting engineering firm designing building power, lighting, communication, and security systems.
  • Thorough understanding of the architectural and engineering industry, including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Outlook and Microsoft Office (or similar software).
  • LEED Accreditation and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Easy Power desired.
  • Ability to mentor junior level staff.
  • Experience with HVAC and plumbing systems is a plus.
