About the position

In the role of Senior Electrical Engineer at HDR, you will play a pivotal role in the development of electrical systems for data centers and mission-critical projects. This position requires you to coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers within a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire project lifecycle. You will establish and maintain client relations, actively participating in marketing, design, and production meetings related to electrical systems. As the electrical lead on various projects, you will ensure that all electrical designs meet the necessary codes and standards by participating in reviews with governing agencies. Your responsibilities will include conducting schematic and design development sessions at the project site, collaborating closely with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines to ensure a cohesive approach to project execution. You will be responsible for coordinating the workload throughout the project development phases, ensuring that all documentation is completed on schedule. Additionally, you will track the financial aspects of projects, adjusting the work effort as necessary to meet agreed-upon schedules and budgets. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will also direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals, providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff members. Your role will involve performing other duties as needed to support the overall success of the projects and the team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with a multidisciplinary team throughout the project's development.
  • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding electrical systems.
  • Assume the electrical lead on various projects.
  • Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
  • Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
  • Track the financial aspects of projects and adjust the work effort with the team to ensure completion within the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Work with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
  • Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Previous data center/mission critical experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
