About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer position at Merrick & Company is focused on the design and engineering of electrical systems for various facilities, including those for government, military, and private clients. This role requires a blend of creativity and technical expertise, overseeing all phases of engineering production and Building Information Modeling (BIM). The position offers a hybrid work schedule and emphasizes personal and professional growth within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for facilities for Government, Military, University, and private clients.
  • Provide conceptual and detailed design and analysis for facility power distribution, emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications, fire alarm systems, security, and access control.
  • Prepare supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work and write/edit specifications.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the design package and adherence to schedule and budget commitments.
  • Direct and mentor junior engineers and designers, delegating work as required.
  • Manage and lead direct reports of local and remote engineering staff, including performing annual performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Twelve (12) years of experience in facility Electrical Engineering design.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience using REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software-based drawing generation.
  • Experience using electrical calculation tools such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, and EasyPower is required.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
  • Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE is required.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
