About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer at Olsson will play a crucial role in designing innovative electrical systems for healthcare facilities. This position involves providing high-level technical support, leading quality assurance and quality control activities, and ensuring that designs meet regulatory standards. The engineer will work on complex projects, develop unique solutions, and mentor less experienced staff, all while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and review of electrical systems for complex healthcare facilities projects.
  • Serve as a technical specialist, applying advanced electrical engineering concepts to address the unique challenges of healthcare environments.
  • Perform QA/QC and ensure that electrical designs meet project objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct research to inform innovative design solutions that improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Advise and direct staff on electrical design approaches to meet project requirements and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into overall project designs.
  • Contribute to the development of standards and guidelines for electrical engineering activities within the team.
  • Mentor and supervise less experienced staff, providing guidance on technical assignments and career development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • At least 8 years of electrical engineering experience with increasing responsibility, preferably in healthcare facilities design.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading complex electrical design projects and providing technical leadership within a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Healthcare-related certifications, such as Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) or Healthcare Physical Environment Worker.
  • Membership in a state or national chapter of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) or equivalent.
  • Experience with National Codes/Standards development and participation in relevant committees.
