About the position

Arconic is currently in search of a Senior Electrical Engineer - High Voltage to join our Tennessee Operations in Alcoa, TN. This role is pivotal in providing engineering support and leadership for high voltage electrical systems and safety programs within the manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams across the plant to ensure the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, technical solutions, and continuous improvement initiatives, aimed at addressing recurring design, process, and application challenges. In addition to providing engineering support, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing capital projects, as well as overseeing major repairs and maintenance activities. This role also involves providing electrical engineering support to all manufacturing and plant areas, ensuring that all activities align with safety standards and operational excellence. The incumbent will lead and mentor craft personnel involved in the implementation of engineered solutions, fostering a culture of safety and collaboration. Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support and leadership for high voltage electrical system engineering and safety programs.
  • Support maintenance, operations, and engineers in production areas throughout the plant.
  • Deliver electrical engineering and continuous improvement support, including problem solving and technical solutions to recurring design, process, and application problems.
  • Develop, manage, and implement capital projects, major repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide electrical engineering support to all manufacturing and plant areas.
  • Oversee the activities of craft persons involved in the implementation of engineered solutions and maintenance activities.
  • Manage external vendors who provide electrical design and support functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with industrial high voltage and 480VAC power distribution, transformers, automation, process control systems, drives, and PLCs.
  • Experience leading, managing, and implementing electrical projects including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain ongoing dialogue with personnel to identify issues and clarify requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years' experience and working knowledge of electrical systems and manufacturing processes and principles.
  • 5 years' experience in high voltage electrical equipment and component engineering, design, and application specification, maintenance, and failure analysis.
  • Working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Experience in estimating, justifying, managing, and installing capital projects.
  • Experience designing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial electrical power and control systems and equipment.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
