About the position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Anduril Industries, you will play a crucial role in the full cycle of PCB design, which includes collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, and overseeing or completing layout, bring-up, testing, debugging, and integration with the system. You will be responsible for the development of air vehicle avionics systems, which encompass flight controls, sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking. Your expertise will be essential in creating system interconnect diagrams and defining wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment within the vehicle. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will provide support and work closely with other air vehicle subsystem development teams to ensure all components function seamlessly together. You will also conduct vendor surveys and evaluations to support sourcing for avionics system components, ensuring that the best materials and technologies are utilized. Your responsibilities will include conducting peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews, as well as building up and testing avionics system components through lab, ground, and flight tests. Additionally, you will engage in low-level firmware development for bring-up and testing, and perform root cause analysis to support field operations. This position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and a passion for developing innovative solutions that enhance military capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Full cycle PCB design including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and integration with the system.
  • Development of air vehicle avionics systems including flight controls, sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking.
  • Develop system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment within the vehicle.
  • Provide support and collaborate within other air vehicle subsystem development constraints.
  • Conduct vendor surveys and evaluations to support sourcing for avionics system components.
  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews.
  • Build up and test avionics system components through lab, ground, and flight tests.
  • Engage in low-level firmware development for bring-up and test.
  • Perform root cause analysis in support of field operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs.
  • Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests.
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
  • Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies.
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
  • Comfortable with a variety of electronic CAD tools (Altium preferred, Eagle and others acceptable).
  • Experience in design for signal integrity / power integrity.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160 and relevant avionics design standards for UAS.
  • Familiarity with aircraft avionics module vendors and avionics component suppliers from past experience in UAS programs.
